On the road again...

The big travel day VOL 2

Here’s a travel song to find the right mood for reading this post. I don’t want any trouble so got to mention I don’t own this. Willie, are we cool?

In Tallinn I headed straight to a hostel in the city, LAI 22 where a friend has been working for a while now. After ditching the backpack we went for a walk by the sea and enjoyed a lovely cup of the cheapest coffee we could find at a gas station.

In Estonia, the previously abandoned areas have been taken back into use. The prison PATAREI close to the center is now a museum. Makes sense in my opinion to sell tickets to the area instead of throwing money at trying to keep people out.

LINNAHALL is an ex-Olympic hall close to the harbor and is now used by families for walks, kids for breaking and spraying things, bigger kids for taking photos of cars owned by their dads, and some businesses as a more memorable location.

I wouldn't skip lunch at the KOMPRESSOR if there is a chance for one. This one was creps with blue cheese and mushrooms but you can't choose wrong in this place.

Picking up my bag I had time for one last beer at the hostel bar before a tram took me to the airport in less than 30 minutes. Got to love Tallinn.

The second leg of the trip: Tallinn to Frankfurt

Since Tallinn, not many interesting things happened. Flights and airports resemble each other so there's not much to mention.

I do want to express my disappointment with this supposedly groundbreaking invention: water bottle filler. After years of blocking access to drinkable water at airports in favor of the 3.50 euro water at the kiosk, they have helped eliminate waste from 6512 bottles.

And they expect a standing ovation. Can you hear the slow clap?

The third leg of the trip: Frankfurt to Cologne

It helps to take every chance you can to practice some easy sentences at the airport or bus station. An easy way to start a conversation is f.ex by asking for directions.

I tend to do this after every corner since arriving in a new country. Also makes the situation more chill in case you're actually lost at some point and need help.

Anyways the signs are normally more or less sensible in these places and people are used to answering the same questions again and again.

Almost forgot the mandatory pics from the plane.

Earthquake fundraiser

At the bus stop a dude asked for help as he didn't have cash for the bus. Most of the time it pays off to be nice to people. At least it doesn't hurt.

Navid was on his way back from Morocco and didn’t have any Euros left. We found out we've got the same destination. He offered to pay for both our tickets at the train station since they accept cards.

He also ended up giving a ticket to a fundraising event for the earthquake victims of Syria and Turkey he was organizing that night. Maybe I'll tell you about that event another time. Maybe not.

This post is probably long enough as it is.

Tataa.
